Masters Remastered: Art, Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation

The project is part of the Erasmus+ Adult Education programme.

The European project Masters Remastered Entrepreneurial Shift of Craftsmanship and Art creatively brought together craftsmanship, art, entrepreneurship, and sustainability for 18 monts. Led by the Gulbene Museum of History and Art in Latvia, the programme connected organizations from Greece (Technéessa, based in Pefka, Thessaloniki), Latvia, Estonia, and Turkey.

The first activity took place in Thessaloniki, where Technéessa hosted the partners in a rich and multifaceted programme of activities. A highlight was the textile reuse workshop (led by Arabella Salonikidou), during which participants created eco-friendly packaging from cotton fabrics and beeswax, showcasing the importance of sustainable innovation. This was followed by a visit to the family business DIOPAS S.A., where participants explored how traditional fishing net production can be combined with modern recycling practices, such as the creation of Econyl material. At the same time, a ceramics workshop demonstrated how art contributes to education and community cohesion, while a visit to the NAOMI organization highlighted the role of creative learning in empowering refugee and migrant women.

The second activity took place in Kaş, Turkey, where participants explored mechanisms to support creative industries, including cooperative models and creator networks. Special emphasis was placed on fostering entrepreneurship among vulnerable groups and on the importance of cultural heritage and storytelling as tools for sustainable development. Participants also engaged with the traditional art of carpet weaving.

The final phase of the programme brought participants to Latvia and Estonia, where they took part in workshops combining tradition with modern techniques and digital tools. Activities included applications of folk art techniques, clay painting, dance traditions, and new ways of promoting cultural creativity.

As part of the dissemination of results, Technéessa organized a workshop on loom weaving and a workshop on contructions with liquid glass. The workshops in Thessaloniki and strengthening the preservation of traditional knowledge and intercultural exchange.
